An Istanbul court on Thursday ordered the release of novelist Aslı Erdoğan and linguist Necmiye Alpay who had been under arrest on charges of making terrorist propaganda for around four-and-a-half months and four months, respectively.>
Erdoğan and Alpay were among journalists and intellectuals tried in one of the cases into Özgür Gündem, a daily that was closed over its alleged links to the PKK.
Erdoğan has been held in jail for 132 days since her detention and Alpay has been held behind bars for 120 days.
A member of Özgür Gündems advisory board, Erdoğan was arrested on Aug. 19 on charges of being a member of armed terror organization after a court ordered it closed for allegedly engaging in propaganda for the PKK.
Alpay, meanwhile, was arrested on Aug. 31 on charges of being a member of a terror organization.
