FEMEN deported after naked protest
The member of the Ukrainian feminist group FEMEN were deported from Turkey on Friday after going naked on the International Womens Day, 8 March, to protest violence against women in Turkey
The Ukrainian activists protest had taken place at midday on 8 March, the International Womens Day, in İstanbuls one of the busiest spots, at Ayasofya Square. The group undressed under bewildered looks of passers-by before they were removed from the spot and were detained by the police. The group was deported on the following day to their country.
The FEMEN members, Oleksandra Shevchenko, Tayiana Zatserkovna, Iana Zhdonova an Inna Shevchenkova, had a final attempt of undressing at Atatürk Airport of İstanbul, but they were stopped by the police. They shouted FEMEN while being boarded to their plane.
