The PKK group of 12 was encircled before a clash started between the army forces and the PKK members in rural area of Ilıcalar district of eastern Bingöl province on Thursday morning. According to the claims of authorities, the majority of the PKK group decided to surrender upon a summons of the army forces, but their head, code named ‘Peri’ and ‘Mahir’ Haşim Kaya, objected to the decision and hurled hand grenades on his fellows before spraying bullets on them.
Nine of the group were killed during the army siege, and 3 surrendered. 2 of the survivors of the clash received injuries during the incident while the third one managed to survive. The head of the group, Haşim Kaya, was killed as he resisted to the army forces and clashed with them.
