The operation took place in Corlu district of Tekirdag province and in Istanbul provinces in early hours of Wednesday morning. 11 Al-Qaeda members were detained in the operations, and some 25 kg of A-4 type explosives were seized along with some sketches of the US General Consulate of Istanbul. 5 rifles, 5 pistols, and computers were also seized by security forces.

The group is believed to have planned to attack the US General Consulate of Istanbul. The 11 Al-Qaeda members are still being questioned at Tekirdag Security Directorate.
