Four oppositional parties agree to form election alliance
Turkey’s four oppositional parties have agreed to take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections under an alliance in a bid to overcome the 10 percent threshold and to increase their participation in the Turkish Parliament.
The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), the İYİ (Good) Party, the Felicity Party (SP) and the Democrat Party (DP) will compose the alliance that will run against the People’s Alliance established by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in the June 24 elections.
Peoples’ Democracy Party (HDP) will run individually in the elections.
The protocol of the four-party alliance will be signed by four leaders on May 3 before it will be registered with the Supreme Election Board (YSK).
