The clan leader set limits on wedding expenses; started the practice from his daughter

In SIRNAK, the leader of the Goyan Clan and Mayor of Uzungecit, Cemil Yildiz, decided with the clan members regarding the expenses of weddings. Yildiz put a gift cap at the clan weddings. The 200 grams of gold requested from the groom's family has been reduced to not exceeding 70 grams. It was decided that the food service, in which approximately 500 kilos of meat is used, should be given only to the guests from outside the province, and does not exceed 30 kilos of meat. Clan Leader, who started the practice at her own daughter's wedding, said, "I cannot leave the groom's side in debt." Representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations, mayors of neighboring districts and other regional clan leaders also attended the wedding, which lasted 2 days and 2 nights. The guests danced ‘halay’ with Turkish and Kurdish songs.

UNDER DEBT MY HAPPINESS WOULD TURN INTO UNHAPPINESS

Groom Erkan Aydemir thanked those who attended the wedding and said, "I thought it would be very difficult to marry the mayor's daughter. I had to buy kilos of gold. When I got married, my happiness under debt would turn into unhappiness. This decision made by our clan made me very happy." Halime Yıldız also stated that the amount of gold is not important to her and said:

"My happiness is important to me. I am very happy that this decision has been taken. My father's decision made me happy."
