“We became the second largest participant country after Italy in a fair that appeals to the world. The fair has special importance for the Turkish textile industry. Türkiye has a very good capability in sustainable production, R&D, and design capability. We want to announce and show this achievement to the whole world at the Premiere Vision Fair” Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (İTHİB) President Ahmet Öksüz said.

The textile industry met at Premiere Vision, one of the world's largest textile fairs held in France. In the fair where 1,310 companies from various countries of the world took part, 211 companies from Türkiye participated. Of the 211 Turkish companies, 145 were fabric, 11 were accessories, 9 were yarn companies, and the others were ready-made clothing and leather companies. While Türkiye ranked second in terms of the number of participants, 304 companies from Italy and 162 companies from France participated in the fair.

“We continue to promote our Turkish textile industry on all platforms. We are making a serious promotion with our 211 companies at Premiere Vision. We participate in Premiere Vision twice a year. We are the second largest exhibitor after Italy. Premiere Vision Fair is a fair that appeals to the world. Participants and visitors come from many countries of the world. The general recession fair in Europe and the US also had some impact. However, our industry's sustainable and integrated production capability puts us a few steps ahead” Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (İTHİB) President Ahmet Öksüz said to reporters.

WE PIONEER THE PRODUCTION COMPATIBLE WITH NATURE

Emphasizing that Premiere Vision Fair has special importance for the Turkish textile industry, Öksüz said, “Sustainability is the motto of the Turkish textile industry. Recycling, using less water, and producing compatible with nature are among our priorities. Türkiye has a very good ability to produce sustainable products. We want to announce and show this to the whole world at the Premiere Vision Fair. The fabrics we exhibited in the 'İTHİB Trend Area' consist of the fabric collections of our companies engaged in sustainable production. There is a trend in the world regarding production compatible with nature. We are leading the way.”

OUR GOAL IS TO BE IN THE TOP 3

“While Türkiye's general export is only 1% of the world's exports, our textile industry has a 3.5% share. Our goal is to be in the top 3 exporting countries in the world. For this pursuit, we should increase our exports by 3 billion dollars more and focus on value-added exports. In the first 6 months of 2023, we made close to 6 billion dollars in exports. At the end of the year, we aim to maintain our current level by signing deals worth 13 billion dollars. In the textile industry, our priority is not to lose our market share in the international market and to increase our share in the global market. In this context, we are expanding our sphere of influence on all platforms, as in the Premiere Vision Paris fair. Recently, we took the initiative to increase our cooperation by hosting INDITEX Group CEO Oscar Garcia Maceias in our country. In the coming period, we will continue to increase our relations with both global brands and distant markets.”
